Video

Here are some short video clips of our contingent, to give the complete audio and visual picture of what we presented during SF carnaval:

  • 2006-05-28_maracatu-bateria.avi (76.4 megabytes)
This clip was taken by Bruce as we were stopped, doing some of the maracatu rhyhms with a lot of space for the timbals to solo in (we switch from "4-up" to "thumb and pinky"). He wanders around the bateria, where you can clearly hear (and see) all the different instruments. A nice close-up view of the percussion. The sound quality is impressive for a digital camera! Aparently the full-length DVD he's making has even better sound quality (though we don't really have the space and bandwidth required to post that here).

  • 2006-05-28_maracatu-full-contingent.avi (111.8 megabytes)
This clip was taken by Bruce as we turned the corner off of Mission St. onto 17th St. Unfortunately, it starts after the banner has already passed, but otherwise, it gives a good view of the entire contingent: the calunga carriers, the dancers, the royal court and umbrella, the bateria, the wagon, and the MST folks. At the start, the music from the previous contingent bleeds in a little bit, but over-all, the sound is quite good.
