The main places to drum in Bolinas are on the beach, which you can get to in two ways depending on which side you're going to, and the Bolinas Community Center, 14 Wharf Road, an indoor space where they often have concerts.

It takes at least an hour, even with no traffic, to get to Bolinas from Berkeley, Oakland, or San Francisco:

From Berkeley or Oakland

Cross the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge

Take Sir Francis Drake through Larkspur to 101 South (towards SF)

Get off in Mill Valley at the Highway 1 exit.

[carry on from Mill Valley]

From San Francisco

Take the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin, then exit Highway 101 N at the Mill Valley / Highway 1 exit.

From Mill Valley

(The Arco station in Tamalpais Junction, shortly after you get off 101, is your last chance to get gas.)

Follow signs for Highway 1 North to Stinson Beach. (You can also take Panoramic Way up over Mount Tamalpais to Stinson Beach.)

From Stinson Beach, continue north all the way around the lagoon. It's 4.4 miles from the stop sign in Stinson Beach to the turnoff for Bolinas.

When you get to the "+" sign (the street sign for an intersection), turn left. That's the intersection where the "Bolinas Border Patrol" so infamously takes down the signs to keep out the lowly non-residents.

Turn left at the yield sign, then keep driving along the lagoon until you get to the stop sign at the intersection of Horseshoe Hill Road . Turn left and follow that street until you come into town. The Community Center will be on your right (just behind the public library, just after the gas station). If you follow that street all the way to the end you're on the beach.
