The annual countercultural Bolinas July 4th parade, much the same as past years: 2008 -- http://baterialucha.org/node/574 2007 -- http://baterialucha.org/node/379 Bruce Silverman will lead the Sons and Daughters of Orpheus for this as he has for the past many years, and once again Luchistas are welcome to join, especially surdo, caixa, and repique. Bruce will bring surdos. Generally it starts pretty early in the morning (like parade at 11, pre-parade rehearsal at 9:30 or 10), and then winds up on the beach for the after-party. Matt and Michelle will probably come up from Santa Barbara for this. There will be a rehearsal at the start of the parade route --- experienced Luchistas will be able to pick up the necessary material right there. We'll do samba, samba reggae, banda, and a Haitian fire rhythm. More details to be announced (including the exact meeting time) as the date gets closer. Definite | ||
