At Frank Ogawa Plaza (near 14th + Broadway, near Oakland 12th St. BART Station)

-----

The racist, anti-immigrant vigilante group, the Minutemen, are coming
to the Oakland City Council Meeting this Tuesday to oppose Oakland's
status as a "city of refuge." All supporters of immigrant rights, for
the equality and dignity of Latina/os, and for the rights of all
oppressed people must come out to the Oakland City Council meeting to
counter-protest these racist extremists. Come rally and make sure that
the Minutemen get the clear message that their attacks on immigrants
and Latina/os are not welcome here in Oakland.

For the past year and a half, we have shown our willingness to stand
up for our rights and dignity and our movement continues to grow. With
leadership and determination, we can expand the sanctuary movement
beyond Oakland, San Francisco, and the Bay Area to make all of
California a sanctuary state. We can win more opportunities for our
families, better schools and bilingual education for our children. We
will not accept second-class treatment anymore. Now is our time to
build the power of the growing new civil rights movement to make the
American dream a reality for all of us.
